We're looking for a Software Asset & Cloud Consumption Manager to join our Technology Operations team at The AA. This is a key role focused on ensuring our software estate is effectively managed, cost-efficient, and compliant, while maximising value from our cloud and wider technology investments. Working closely with teams across Technology, Finance, Procurement, and external partners, you'll provide clear insight into software usage and licensing, support strategic decision-making, and drive optimisation across the estate. What will I be doing?
- Managing and optimising the organisation's software estate, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and minimising risk
- Providing accurate reporting and insights on software usage, licensing positions, and cloud consumption to support decision-making
- Leading software asset management processes, including onboarding, governance, and continuous improvement
- Partnering with internal teams (Technology, Finance, Procurement, Security) and external suppliers to drive value and efficiency
- Supporting vendor negotiations, demand forecasting, and cost optimisation initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to reduce waste, reharvest unused licences, and improve overall technology spend
What do I need?
- Experience in software licensing and compliance, with the ability to navigate complex vendor agreements (e.g. Oracle, IBM) and mitigate risk
- Hands-on experience with Software Asset Management and discovery tools such as Snow and/or ServiceNow
- Proven ability to operate confidently in a complex, enterprise environment, applying sound judgement to prioritise and manage competing demands
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build relationships across technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working collaboratively with suppliers and software vendors, ensuring effective communication and value-driven outcomes
Desirable:
- Broader knowledge of cloud consumption models and cost optimisation practices
- Familiarity with integrating SAM tools with wider IT or financial systems
- A proactive, analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and optimisation
