Think the AA is just about roadside assistance? Think again. For over a century, we've been evolving and adapting. Today, as the nation's leading motoring organisation, we offer a wide range of products and services to millions of customers. From roadside assistance to home and motor insurance, and the latest driving technologies, we have it all. As we continue to expand, diversify, and modernise, joining us means you'll play a crucial role in our success and be part of this exciting motoring journey.
The AA is on an exciting journey of growth, modernisation and transformation. As the UK's leading motoring organisation, we support millions of customers through a wide range of roadside, insurance and mobility related products and services. Finance plays a critical role in helping us understand performance, shape commercial decisions and make confident choices for the future.
We are looking for a commercially sharp senior finance leader to join us. This is a high impact role within the Roadside Finance Leadership Team, responsible for leading FP&A across Roadside while also shaping how finance processes, reporting and insight evolve across the business. Working closely with senior leaders across Finance, Pricing, Trading, Operations, Product and Commercial teams, you will provide clear insight, challenge and decision support across pricing, trading, cost, investment and operational performance.
This is not a role for someone who simply reports the numbers. We are looking for someone who can interpret performance, challenge thinking and help the business become even more commercially focused. You'll bring strong pricing experience, ideally gained in insurance or another recurring revenue environment, and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders including CFO, CEO and executive level audiences. Curious, collaborative and commercially minded, you'll be someone who builds trust quickly, brings pace and structure, and turns complex financial analysis into clear recommendations that help shape better decisions across one of the AA's most important business areas.
What will I be doing?
- Lead Roadside FP&A activity, including the five-year plan, annual budget, quarterly forecasts, weekly MI and monthly performance reporting.
- Provide clear, timely and actionable insight on revenue, margin, costs, EBITDA, cash, risks and opportunities, helping leaders understand what has happened, why it has happened and what action is needed.
- Partner with senior leaders across Finance, Pricing, Trading, Product, Operations and Commercial teams to support strategic planning and commercial decision making.
- Enable stronger pricing and trading insight, including pricing choices, discount scenarios, volume and margin trade-offs, customer tenure, competitor dynamics and performance tracking.
- Shape and deliver the Roadside finance transformation roadmap, simplifying, standardising and automating processes while improving the quality and pace of insight.
- Support business cases, strategic projects and investment decisions, including benefits tracking and post investment review.
What do I need?
- Significant senior FP&A, commercial finance, business partnering and performance management experience in a complex commercial environment.
- Strong pricing experience, with an understanding of how finance supports trading decisions through scenario modelling, margin analysis, elasticity, customer economics and performance tracking.
- Experience within insurance is preferred, although we would also consider relevant experience from roadside, subscription, consumer services or other recurring revenue businesses.
- Proven experience operating at Head of level or equivalent, with credibility in front of senior stakeholders including CFO, CEO, executive committee or group leadership audiences.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to challenge the business constructively and balance growth, profitability, customer outcomes, operational capacity and risk.
- Experience supporting finance transformation, including improving reporting, simplifying processes, embedding best practice and creating better forward-looking insight.
