This is the job

We are seeking a strategic and technically credible Head of Digital Architecture to lead the evolution of our digital ecosystem across web, mobile, and customer platforms. Reporting to the Digital Technology Director, this role will play a pivotal role in shaping a group-wide digital and AI strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals, customer outcomes, and innovation priorities.

Operating at the intersection of strategy, technology, and customer experience, you will lead architecture across a significant £20m+ digital investment portfolio, combining business and solution architecture expertise to drive enterprise-scale transformation. This is a senior leadership role within a collaborative and inclusive environment, where diverse perspectives are valued and where you will influence senior stakeholders while building and leading a high-performing architecture function.

What will I be doing?

  • Define and own the digital architecture vision and roadmap across web, mobile, APIs, and customer platforms
  • Lead the transition to modern, cloud-native architectures (API-first, event-driven, composable)
  • Drive group-wide digital architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise and customer outcomes
  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of architects, ensuring high-quality solution design and governance
  • Act as a bridge between business and technology, translating complex architecture into clear value-driven outcomes
  • Champion AI-enabled architecture and emerging technologies, embedding innovation into digital platforms

What do I need?

  • Demonstrated senior-level expertise in digital architecture across web and mobile platforms within large-scale, enterprise environments
  • Strong capability spanning business, solution, and strategic architecture, with experience operating in complex organisational landscapes
  • Proven people leadership and line management experience, building and leading high-performing architecture teams
  • Deep knowledge of cloud technologies, particularly AWS and Azure, supported by a broad and adaptable technical perspective
  • Established track record of influencing senior stakeholders and delivering impactful, large-scale digital transformation initiatives
  • Forward-thinking mindset with a strong interest in AI, emerging technologies, and modern engineering practices, driving continuous innovation
