As a Commercial Analyst, you’ll play a key role in shaping how new customers choose the AA. You’ll focus on our sales and marketing channels, using insight and curiosity to uncover opportunities that improve how effectively and efficiently we attract new members. You’ll bring commercial thinking to the heart of our decision‑making. Working closely with our acquisition leadership team, you’ll act as a trusted business partner, spotting performance trends, identifying areas for improvement, and helping to drive initiatives that make a real impact. Your work will directly influence customer acquisition, ensuring we continue to grow in smart, meaningful ways. It’s a role where your analysis becomes action, and your ideas will help shape our future success.
What will I be doing?
- Understanding how our current acquisition strategy influences consumer behaviour, and recommending improvements based on insight.
- Developing and refining analytical methodologies to track market activity and keep key stakeholders informed.
- Leading the thinking on optimising the volume–value balance to shape our pricing and promotional strategy.
- Delivering customer analysis that supports clear, evidence‑based decision‑making and tactical execution.
- Collaborating with Retention Optimisation and Channel Analytics to assess how acquisition activity impacts our existing Members.
- Enabling us to measure whether we’re reaching the right customer segments, using reach, penetration and effectiveness metrics.
- Demonstrating the effectiveness of our marketing investments through regular performance reporting.
- Enhancing trading measurement and reporting to highlight key growth drivers and ensure they can be monitored and managed effectively.
- Taking an active role in trading meetings and bringing insights to help drive the whole of acquisition forward.
What do I need?
- A proven track record of delivering accurate, meaningful analysis that drives commercial decision‑making.
- The ability to translate complex analytics into clear recommendations and work collaboratively with operational teams to implement them.
- Strong numerical skills, with hands‑on experience in data manipulation using tools such as advanced Excel (including macros), SQL and Power BI.
- Experience creating insightful dashboards and visualisations that support effective business understanding.
- Demonstrated capability in using ChatGPT and other AI tools to enhance analytical output and efficiency.
- A commercially astute mindset with the ability to understand and contribute to wider business priorities.
- Strong communication skills, able to tailor insight for a variety of stakeholders across the organisation.
- A proactive, curious approach with a desire to continually improve processes, tools and analytical methods.
