HOURS OF WORK: 06:00 – 14:30
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Shift Manager, the post holder will be responsible for continuously overseeing the efficient running of the department and managing the team.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Organise the team to ensure that the production plan is delivered on a daily basis
- Provide all daily information on production efficiency, non-conformance and waste
- Ensure all team members, both new and existing are trained against and competently comply with departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Audit all daily checks and ensure they are being carried out
- Ensure all operating procedures are being adhered to
- Ensure all waste is minimised
- Maintain high housekeeping standards for the area of responsibility
- Liaise with other departments where necessary to ensure that the business needs and priorities are met
- Consider and implement solutions to problems as and when they arise
- Recognise and reward exceptional performance and support the Shift Manager with succession planning for the department
- Challenge non-conformance or poor standards (both product and team members)
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Must have an excellent attendance record
- Must be flexible with hours of work (i.e. early starts / late finishes)
- Ability to organise both yourself and others
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the Operations Team
- Ability to solve problems
- Previous food manufacturing experience
- Experience of following and amending production plans would be an advantage but not essential
- Previous experience of leading a team
DESIRABLE:
- NVQ in Food Manufacturing
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Working Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Health & Safety
