HOURS OF WORK: 06:00 – 14:30

JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Shift Manager, the post holder will be responsible for continuously overseeing the efficient running of the department and managing the team.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Organise the team to ensure that the production plan is delivered on a daily basis
  • Provide all daily information on production efficiency, non-conformance and waste
  • Ensure all team members, both new and existing are trained against and competently comply with departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Audit all daily checks and ensure they are being carried out
  • Ensure all operating procedures are being adhered to
  • Ensure all waste is minimised
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards for the area of responsibility
  • Liaise with other departments where necessary to ensure that the business needs and priorities are met
  • Consider and implement solutions to problems as and when they arise
  • Recognise and reward exceptional performance and support the Shift Manager with succession planning for the department
  • Challenge non-conformance or poor standards (both product and team members)

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Must have an excellent attendance record
  • Must be flexible with hours of work (i.e. early starts / late finishes)
  • Ability to organise both yourself and others
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the Operations Team
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Previous food manufacturing experience
  • Experience of following and amending production plans would be an advantage but not essential
  • Previous experience of leading a team

DESIRABLE:

  • NVQ in Food Manufacturing
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Working Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Health & Safety
