Austin’s work revolves around the Life Science sector and designing R&D laboratories and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. You will handle engineering assignments ranging from mechanical designs to design lead roles of a multidiscipline team. Additionally, you will support site delivery as part of Austin's broader project construction team.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will likely manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will take ownership of mechanical projects, ensuring delivery according to the agreed programme and resource allocation. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of in-house architects, engineers, and project managers. Additionally, you will be involved in the investigation and utilisation of the latest technologies, designing to meet client’s Net Zero sustainability targets and addressing complex design aspects of life science sector projects. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work closely with the Head of Department to enhance departmental capabilities.

What do we need from you?

  • A keen interest in working on complex and challenging projects.
  • Engineer with an appropriate engineering degree.
  • Preferably a Member of Professional Engineering Institution.
  • Discipline-specific experience in design, in a relevant industry sector.
  • Minimum of ten years' experience, preferably in the building services sector.
  • Proficient in MS Office software applications, with experience navigating 3D Revit models using Navisworks Viewer and familiarity with Microsoft Teams and Navisworks.
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail to identify a technical design or quality issue, find a suitable solution and resolve the issue.
  • Articulate, with strong verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present yourself and your arguments to clients.
  • Being self-motivated and a team player.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive attitude, with work involving a combination of design tasks, client meetings, and site visits.
  • Valid UK driving license.
