Aurora Charnwood School is opening its doors in late 2026 (tbc) and will be a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious hub for children and young people aged 5β19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Communication and Interaction. With a capacity of 120 students across 3 sites, our vision is to create a safe, enriching and aspirational environment where every learner can thrive. We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Administrator to join our brand-new team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new school and to be part of something truly transformative.
The main purpose of the role: The purpose of the Senior Administrator is to provide an efficient and effective administrative service to the school team and to assist and support the School Business Manager in managing and responding to issues relating to the support functions within the school, including First Aid, off-site activities and Catering.
Key duties:
- Provide an efficient administrative support function to the school team.
- Be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on Engage, the school's Management Information System.
- Inputting and retrieving data using the school's databases and systems.
- Provide an effective secretarial and administrative support service to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Assist the School Business Manager in the continuous review of all process and procedures to ensure the most effective, efficient and compliant services are provided.
- Prepare relevant information and reports for Ofsted Inspections and internal audits, delivering the information in the absence of the School Business Manager.
- Manage incoming and outgoing e-mails, ensuring that responses to these are completed.
- Report any health and safety concerns in a timely manner, according to school policy.
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings where directed, invited, delegated or otherwise scheduled, as being relevant to the post.
- Undertake any other duties and/or responsibilities as directed by the School Business Manager or Headteacher on request.
Please note that duties will vary and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school when required.
Skills Qualifications What We're Looking For:
- GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
- High level of interpersonal ability with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role (preferably in a school setting).
- Computer literacy β Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and ability to use a range of databases once trained.
- Accurate typing, touch typing desirable.
- Organised, good time management.
- Ability to be discreet, confidential and reliable.
- Experience of SEN children/young adults desirable.
