Job Description:

Overview and Responsibilities

Aurora Hedgeway is a dynamic provision for children and young people aged 7- with Autism and related needs. We support students from Key Stage 2 to post-16, helping them reach their potential.

The main purpose of the role:

The Teaching Assistant supports children with learning and wellbeing, fostering a safe, caring environment, and assisting with care needs and behaviour management tailored to each child.

Key Duties:

  • Build supportive relationships with pupils to promote safety and enjoyment in learning.
  • Encourage independence and high behaviour standards.
  • Assist in delivering a broad, balanced curriculum.
  • Support the Class Teacher with daily classroom activities.
  • Adapt to changing school needs and tasks.
  • Support pupils\’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and spiritual development.
  • Work collaboratively within a team.
  • Complete necessary documentation under supervision.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English Level 2/C or above.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Knowledge or experience with pupils with SEN.
  • Commitment to child-centered approach.

  • L3 award in supporting teaching and learning (desirable).
  • At least one year experience as a Level 2 qualified TA or equivalent (desirable).
