Position: Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: Aurora Ryefields School, Ryefields, Derby

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term Time Only

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday - Immediate start date (pending onboarding checks)

Salary: £22,996 to £25,068 (Actual annual salary, dependent on experience and qualifications)

Hourly Rate: £12.87 to £14.03 p/hr

About Ryefields: Ryefields is a brand-new, purpose-built special school in Derby, dedicated to providing outstanding education and support for children and young people with ASC and SEMH needs. Our vision is to create a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment where every child can achieve their full potential.

The Role: As a Teaching Assistant at Ryefields, you will support the educational, social, and emotional development of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students engage in learning.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using agreed strategies.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Supporting students with personal care, where necessary, in a dignified and respectful manner.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to reports and feedback for teachers and families.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a SEND or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
  • A passion for supporting children with ASC and SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, are desirable but not essential.
