Aurora Ivy Lane School is a 'Good' (Ofsted, October 3) rated innovative provider of specialist education, supporting young people aged with complex needs including autism, moderate and severe learning disabilities; speech, language, communication and interaction needs and behaviours that can challenge. We are currently seeking an Administrative Assistant/Receptionist to join our friendly team.

The main purpose of the role:

  • Responsible for reception and telephone duties, welcoming visitors, diary management and taking deliveries.
  • Providing administration assistance as required such as typing letters, taking minutes for meetings, and arranging appointments.

We’re looking for someone who is able to remain calm under pressure, multitask and carry out unexpected tasks without notice (flexibility is a must), be able to work well within a team as well as on their own, able to maintain confidentiality and always offering a warm and friendly welcome to our visitors.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (at least 5 GCSEs above C to include English and Maths).
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role for at least a year.
  • Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint and ability to use a range of databases once trained.
  • Accurate typing.
  • Organised, good time management.
  • Ability to manage own time to deal with multiple tasks.
  • High levels of interpersonal ability with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Able to work as part of a team.
  • Discreet, confidential and reliable.
