About the Role
The Athletic is seeking a Live Reporter on a 6 month contract to work with some of the best sports writers in the world and a talented team of editors to produce exceptional live blogs across a variety of sports on a daily basis. The right candidate will have experience working on a national sports desk or similar, a brilliant quality of copy and an engaging, driven approach to live coverage. This role is a 6 months contract to cover for an employee on leave.
Responsibilities
- Writing, editing and publishing content in live blogs.
- Experience with producing breaking news content in an accurate, timely manner.
- Curating the best content from social media.
- Working with reporters to produce news stories and copy in their voice for live experience.
- Collaborating with news editors to keep blogs up to date.
- Understanding SEO and best practices.
- Understanding of trends – both on search and social media.
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of live blogging experience.
- A solid background in sports journalism.
- High-end knowledge of a variety of different sports.
- Must be flexible and collaborative.
This role is based in the United Kingdom and will work remotely.
