Role Overview

We are committed to creating a culture where safeguarding is widely understood and embedded throughout the Foundation.

We provide effective leadership and management, ensuring compliance with Premier League rules and government legislation, while maintaining key stakeholder relationships internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safeguarding provision and champion best practice across the Aston Villa Foundation in line with the Club’s Safeguarding strategy, vision and policies to ensure a safe environment that nurtures, encourages and develops young people.
  • Act as the first point of contact for responding to and managing any safeguarding concerns within the Foundation and provide guidance, support and advice to colleagues, participants and parents/guardians.
  • Attend relevant Foundation training sessions and matches, deliver local safeguarding inductions and work collaboratively with Foundation staff to support projects, initiatives and events from a safeguarding perspective.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly, building and maintaining relationships at all levels, particularly with parents and participants.
  • Organise and prioritise workload, responding to dynamic situations with integrity and discretion.
  • Attend training sessions and travel to various locations, requiring a UK driving licence and access to own vehicle, and be available for flexible work including matchdays, evenings and weekends.
  • Candidate Profile
  • Safeguarding and/or welfare professional with a relevant degree/professional qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience volunteering or working with children or young people, ideally in an elite sporting environment.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of current safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and best practice, including recording and handling clear and comprehensive records.
  • Personable, approachable and able to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
