Walsall FC is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Men's First Team Analyst to join our Football Department.

Working closely with the Head Coach, coaching staff, players and wider performance team, you will be responsible for delivering evidence-based performance analysis that supports the Club's football philosophy and competitive objectives.

You will provide actionable tactical, technical and physical insights that enhance decision-making and optimise performance across training, matchdays and player development.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a high-performance environment, helping to drive continuous improvement both on and off the pitch.

Responsibilities

  • Capture, code and analyse all First Team matches using industry-standard performance analysis software.
  • Oversee live analysis operations and contribute to the ongoing development of analytical systems, workflows and technologies.
  • Film, archive and analyse all First Team training sessions.
  • Produce detailed post-match reports highlighting team and individual performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators.
  • Analyse upcoming opponents to identify tactical trends, strengths, weaknesses and key players.
  • Create clear, visually engaging and impactful reports to support planning, review and decision-making processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual workload and maximise the value generated from available technologies.
  • Work collaboratively with other performance staff to centralise performance data and produce daily reports.
  • Ensure analytical insights are timely, relevant and aligned with coaching objectives and player development plans.
  • Maintain efficient, reliable and accessible data and video workflows for key stakeholders.
  • Support the establishment of best-practice standards for video management, data quality assurance and performance reporting.
  • Assist with the recruitment, onboarding and development of interns and work placement students in line with the Club's Safer Recruitment Policy.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Academy Lead Analyst to encourage alignment and development across the football programme.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Sports Performance Analysis, Sports Science, Coaching or a related discipline.
  • Experience using analysis software such as Hudl Sportscode, Hudl Replay, Wyscout or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of football tactics, principles of play and coaching methodologies.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across the Club and wider football industry.
  • A proactive and accountable approach, taking ownership of responsibilities and key objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments, including evenings, weekends and unsociable hours as required.
  • Desirable: PFSA Level 2 or Level 3 in Performance Analysis; FA Level 2 Coaching Certificate, UEFA C Licence or higher; previous experience within an elite or professional football environment.
