The First Team Performance Analyst will deliver high-quality performance analysis to support our First Team. This role will provide tactical, technical, and performance insights through robust video and data analysis, supporting match preparation, live match decision making, post match review and day to day training. The postholder will work closely with the coaching and performance staff to ensure analysis is embedded within the club’s game model, playing philosophy and performance objectives.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Performance Analysis & Match Support
    • Deliver comprehensive pre-match, live-match and post-match analysis to coaches and players.
    • Capture, code, and analyse match and training footage using industry-standard software (eg. Hudl Sportscode, Statsbomb, Wyscout, Matchtracker).
    • Deliver live tactical feedback during matches to support coaching decisions.
    • Produce detailed post-match reports, including video and statistical breakdowns.
    • Provide individualised player analysis using clips, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Opposition & Tactical Analysis
    • Produce detailed opposition analysis, identifying tactical strengths, weaknesses, key patterns and trends.
    • Support match preparation through evidence based insights.
    • Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the team’s tactical performance and game model.
  • Training Analysis & Player Development
    • Capture and analyse training sessions to support coaching objectives and player improvement.
    • Provide live and post-session feedback using video and data where appropriate.
    • Support the integration and monitoring of academy graduates within the First Team environment.
  • Data Management & Presentation
    • Maintain and develop performance databases, video libraries and statistical data.
    • Create engaging, concise and informative visual presentations for coaches and players.
  • Technology, Innovation & Collaboration
    • Assist in the development of analytical processes, workflows and innovative approaches.
    • Remain up to date with developments in performance analysis technology.
    • Work collaboratively with sports science and medical teams to integrate physical and tactical data.
    • Undertake any other tasks relevant to the holistic development of the club.
    • Engage in CPD activities organized by the Club and other providers.

About The Candidate

  • Have a strong understanding of football tactics, formations, game models and playing styles.
  • Be highly proficient in performance analysis software (eg Hudl Sportscode, Statsbomb, Wyscout, Matchtracker).
  • Analyse and interpret video and data within an elite football environment.
  • Translate complex performance information into practical, football specific insights.
  • Show strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience working in elite football, preferably in a First Team or Academy environment.
  • Be highly organised and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced football environment.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Respect confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations.
  • Be confident to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic football environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc/BA in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Coaching, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with performance analysis tools and video coding software.
  • Clear enhanced DBS check.

Desirable

  • MSc/MRes in Performance Analysis or related field (or willingness to work towards).
