We are seeking a skilled and motivated Digital Marketeer and Designer to join our growing team, delivering incredible cross-channel creative content and styling, and supporting in scoping our strategy, contributing to the overall success of The Assembly.
You’ll work across an exciting portfolio including:
- Creative HEAD – an established and influential voice for professional hair, connecting brands with salons, stylists and industry leaders through print, digital and live experiences.
- FADED – our premium print title dedicated to the professional barbering market.
- HAIRCON – supporting our dynamic, disruptive trade event for the professional hair and barbering industry.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your portfolio and enhance your design skills while contributing to exciting and varied editorial and commercial projects, bringing your own ideas to the table.
The Role and key experience required:
- We need a confident and experienced creative artist who can whip up visually stunning and user-friendly digital designs, including layouts and graphics for web, social media, and email – fully optimised for both mobile and desktop.
- We’re looking for a super creative designer with a sound understanding of Branding, capturing our online audience’s attention whilst ensuring a consistent house style and positioning across all marketing channels.
- Effective creative and content will ensure we continue to win views and drive up dwell time, so a solid digital foundation and understanding of web performance metrics is key to driving design decisions.
- You’ll also oversee the ongoing design and maintenance of our websites, working alongside the Web developer on the interface and experience to create a visual treat that’s also user-friendly.
- Proficient in SEO - Knowledge of Yoast, SEO Titles, keywords and search terms.
- You’ll support creating pitch packs, media kits and presentations to both win and showcase campaigns and performance.
- Occasional support to at-event promotion and content design.
Digital & Technical Skills
- Good working knowledge of CSS and responsive web design. Experience designing and building webpages within WordPress.
- Ability to create and build bespoke webpages, article layouts and digital content.
- Experience creating and working with bespoke templates in Mailchimp. Understanding of email newsletter design, digital campaign content and optimisation for device and engagement.
- Ability to edit and prepare video content for websites and digital platforms, maximising viewability and VTR without impacting site performance.
- Experience creating GIFs and animated content, particularly for email and web.
- An understanding of digital analytics and campaign reporting, including reporting on newsletter and webpage performance for clients.
- Data inspired design – lean on web and email insights to steer design decisions for optimal engagement.
- A strong eye for typography, layout, imagery and visual consistency across digital platforms.
- Confidence working across both creative and technical aspects of digital content production.
You will need to be proficient in:
- Adobe Creative Cloud / Canva.
- Wordpress / DIVI / WooCommerce / MailChimp / Cargo.
- Basic knowledge of HTML, video editing and animation.
- Strong knowledge of CSS, PHP, HTML, video editing and animation.
- Google Analytics and/or Plausible.

- Proven experience in digital and design roles.
- Attention to detail and consistency.
- Highly organised and multi-tasker.
- Ability to be self-motivated; can work confidently and independently.
- A good team player who can build relationships with their colleagues, partners and sponsors.
- Respectful management of content that may be contributed by external parties.
- Experience of the Professional Hair industry or a background in Hair and Beauty would offer great value to the role.
