We are looking for a reliable and organised Weighbridge Operator to support the day-to-day operations at Newthorpe Quarry sites.
The successful candidate will play an important role in coordinating vehicle movements, accurately recording material weights and providing a professional service to customers, drivers and colleagues.
As one of the main points of contact for vehicles entering and leaving the site, you will help ensure that operations run safely, efficiently and accurately while maintaining Ashcourt Group's high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating the weighbridge and accurately recording incoming and outgoing vehicle weights.
- Checking vehicle loads and ensuring the correct materials and quantities are being collected or delivered.
- Checking Proof of Delivery documents (PODs), collection details and other relevant paperwork.
- Producing and printing accurate weighbridge tickets for drivers and customers.
- Managing the flow of wagons through the site to help maintain efficient quarry operations and minimise delays.
- Communicating regularly with the quarry team, loading shovel operators and other site personnel to coordinate vehicle movements and loading requirements.
- Communicating with drivers and customers regarding collections, deliveries, products and site procedures.
- Ensuring vehicles are directed to the correct loading or unloading areas.
- Monitoring loads leaving the site and raising any discrepancies or concerns with the appropriate team.
- Maintaining accurate weighbridge records and ensuring documentation is completed correctly.
- Providing a professional and helpful service to customers visiting or contacting the site.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with regular customers and drivers.
- Supporting the wider site team with administrative duties where required.
- Following all company health, safety and environmental procedures and ensuring drivers understand relevant site rules.
- Reporting any operational, safety or customer service issues to the appropriate manager.

- Be confident dealing with customers, drivers and colleagues throughout the working day.
- Have good attention to detail and be comfortable working with weights, tickets and documentation.
- Be organised and able to manage several vehicle movements at busy periods.
- Have basic computer skills and be comfortable learning weighbridge and ticketing systems.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a quarry and operational team.
- Have a professional, approachable and helpful manner.
- Be able to remain calm and organised in a busy operational environment.
- Understand the importance of accurate record keeping.
- Previous weighbridge, quarry, aggregates, transport or construction industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
