We’re looking for a motivated and detail‑focused individual to support the day‑to‑day accounting activities within our quarry operations. If you enjoy working with numbers, systems and operational teams, this role will give you valuable exposure across a busy and dynamic environment.
As an Accounts Assistant studying towards AAT, you will receive direct support from experienced team members, combining hands‑on operational knowledge with the development of strong Excel, problem‑solving and modern systems skills. This is an excellent opportunity to build a finance career within our growing organisation.

What you’ll do
- Assist with Sales and Purchase Ledger tasks
- Input, validate and reconcile operational and financial data
- Use Excel to analyse data, identify anomalies and support reporting
- Assist with cost tracking, stock movements and performance reporting
- Support month‑end activities including reconciliations and reporting packs
- Help improve data accuracy and consistency at source
- Work collaboratively with operational and finance colleagues to resolve issues
What you’ll bring
- Full UK driving licence
- Studying towards AAT (or equivalent) — ideal but not essential
- Previous experience in a similar role and an understanding of finance activities
- Desirable: experience within a similar industry (aggregates, quarrying, waste, construction), but not essential
- Strong IT skills, including confident Excel capability (Pivot tables, Lookups, General data management and analysis)
- Accuracy, attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with both finance and operational teams
