We are looking for an organised and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join our finance team, supporting the day-to-day accounting functions across Ashcourt Logistics and Ashcourt West Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will provide support across both the purchase ledger and sales ledger, helping to ensure financial information is processed accurately and efficiently.

This is a varied role suited to someone who is comfortable working with numbers, managing a busy workload and communicating with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of the purchase ledger and sales ledger.
  • Processing supplier invoices accurately and ensuring they are allocated to the correct accounts and cost centres.
  • Matching purchase invoices against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Identifying and resolving invoice discrepancies with suppliers and relevant internal departments.
  • Assisting with supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Processing customer invoices and credit notes.
  • Maintaining accurate customer and supplier account records.
  • Supporting the allocation and reconciliation of customer payments.
  • Assisting with credit control activities and following up outstanding customer balances where required.
  • Responding to supplier and customer account queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assisting with bank and account reconciliations where required.
  • Supporting the preparation of information for month-end processes.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring documentation is correctly filed and retained.
  • Working closely with operational, commercial and finance teams across Ashcourt Logistics and Ashcourt West Yorkshire.
  • Providing general administrative support to the wider finance team as required.

Skills and Experience

• The ideal candidate will have

  • Previous experience within an accounts, finance or administrative role.
  • Experience working with purchase ledger and/or sales ledger processes would be advantageous.
  • Good numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Confident communication skills when dealing with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider finance team.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving account queries.
  • Experience working within the logistics, construction, aggregates or related sectors would be beneficial but is not essential.
