The Ascott Limited UK Corporate Office is seeking a qualified, experienced and capable Senior Accountant to become part of our Finance team, supporting our Lodging business, covering a specific portfolio. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role involves applying accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information, prepare accurate financial reports and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures for your specific portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead on the preparation and analysis of financial statements and supporting schedules for a variety of operating hotels/serviced apartments on a monthly basis.
- Facilitate and complete monthly and yearly closing procedures to the required standard.
- Analyse revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
- Draft statutory financial statements and manage financial and tax audits.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and record data to allow completion of annual P11D's and PSA settlements.
- Assist in variance analysis of actual versus budget on a monthly basis and liaise with operational contacts to resolve queries.
- Ensure best practice at all times and propose ideas to management for improving standards, processes and procedures.
- Prepare the monthly management report and monthly balance sheet reconciliation for all accounts.
- Support operations in preparation of annual budget and monthly forecast.
- Prepare monthly cashflow forecasts for entities under scope, identifying any funding requirements or surplus cash in good time to support treasury management on a group basis.
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls.
Qualifications
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within a medium/large corporate environment.
- Good general understanding of accounting theory and business taxation.
- Background in Hospitality or real estate (desirable).
- Advanced MS Excel competence.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations.
- Attention to detail.
