- A Stage Unlike Any Other
In 1863, a group of artists, writers, and free thinkers gathered with a shared conviction: that the finest conversation, the boldest ideas, and the warmest hospitality belonged together under one roof.
Charles Dickens dined here.
Whistler argued here.
Rodin was inspired here.
The Arts Club was born not as a venue, but as a living expression of creative life — and it has never stopped.
At the heart of that life today are the people and spaces that bring our club to life every day.
This is more than an operation — it is an environment where members connect, create, and return time and time again because something about it feels truly special.
It takes an exceptional person to be part of that.
That person might be you.
Be part of building an exceptional workplace where people and performance thrive together.
We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded People & Culture Manager to join our People & Culture team.
Reporting to the People & Culture Director, you will play a key role in driving a positive workplace culture, delivering robust people practices, and supporting leaders across the business to develop high-performing teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys balancing operational excellence with strategic people initiatives in a fast-paced, service-led environment.
- What you’ll be doing
- Lead end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities.
- Partner with managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and performance issues.
- Coach and develop leaders on people management best practices and UK employment law.
- Support employee engagement, wellbeing and recognition initiatives that strengthen culture and retention.
- Manage probation and performance review processes across the organisation.
- Support compensation and benefits activities, including salary benchmarking and annual review processes.
- Support learning and development programmes, with particular focus on leadership and management capability.
- Produce and analyse HR metrics to support informed business decision-making.
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the People & Culture team.
About you
- Minimum 6 years' People & Culture experience, ideally within hospitality, luxury, service-led or similarly fast-paced environments.
- At least 1-2 years' experience managing HR team members and leading key people initiatives, with hands-on responsibility for employee relations, recruitment, performance management and leadership development.
- Confident across employee relations, recruitment and learning & development — efficient, practical and always thinking about the bigger picture and what will matter long term.
- Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- A natural coach who enjoys developing managers and helping teams do their best work (and not dreads performance conversations).
- Known for sound, balanced judgement — empathetic, objective and trusted with sensitive matters.
- Organised, adaptable and composed under pressure, with excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to manage multiple demands without compromising quality or deadlines.
- Comfortable building strong relationships at all levels and influencing without needing a job title to do the talking.
The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor who combines sound judgement, professionalism and empathy with a strong focus on results.
You will be comfortable challenging constructively, driving accountability, and helping leaders create an engaging and high-performing workplace culture.
