About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join the Kyubi Kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior chef who is eager to learn, develop their skills, and gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment. As a Commis Chef, you will support the senior kitchen team with food preparation and day-to-day kitchen duties, while learning essential culinary techniques and maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior chefs with daily food preparation tasks
- Follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation across all work areas
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are followed at all times
- Learn and develop core kitchen skills under the guidance of senior chefs
Key Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
- Help prepare simple dishes, garnishes, and sauces under supervision
- Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean and sanitised
- Support the kitchen team during service as required
- Assist with stock rotation, labelling, and correct food storage
- Carry out daily cleaning duties as directed
- Report any equipment faults or food safety concerns to senior chefs
Health, Safety & Hygiene
- Comply with all food hygiene, health & safety, and fire safety regulations
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene standards
- Assist with food safety documentation when required
