We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Assistant People & Culture Manager / Senior People and Culture Officer to join the team and play a key role in fostering a positive work environment that reflects our commitment to service excellence and providing support across the club while managing the day to day running of our vibrant People & Culture Department.
About the role: The Assistant People & Culture Manager/ Senior People & Culture Officer is pivotal in supporting the seamless execution of the People & Culture strategies, with a focus on employee relations, employee engagement and recruitment. Reporting to the People & Culture Director, the successful candidate will contribute to shaping a positive and inclusive workplace culture while driving the club's people initiatives. This will be an On-Site role based in our lovely office just two blocks away from the Club. Successful applicants will become part of a fun, dynamic team who work closely with the operations teams that bring The Arts Club to life on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers and team members on employee relations matters, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Review and ensure all employee relations documents, tools, and templates are up-to-date and aligned with current policies and legislation.
- Train line managers on the effective use of employee relations tools and resources to handle workplace matters confidently and consistently.
- Manage and resolve employee grievances, ensuring compliance with employment laws and club policies.
- Lead investigations and disciplinary processes where necessary, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Ensure all relevant meetings are properly documented and kept in team member personnel file.
- Employee Engagement
- Collaborate with Head of Learning and Performance in developing and implementing initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention, fostering a positive and motivated workforce.
- Support Head of Learning & Performance in conducting regular employee surveys and analysing feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Design & monitor recognition and reward programmes, and team member activities that align with the club's values.
- Recruitment
- Support and supervise People & Culture Coordinator to handle the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring the attraction and selection of top talent aligned with the club's luxury hospitality standards.
- Support and supervise People & Culture Coordinator to manage recruitment channels and platforms to optimise talent acquisition efforts.
- Support Hiring Managers throughout the hiring process (job description review, recruitment process confirmation, job postings and CV screenings, if applicable, interviews and assessments design and review, hiring decision and approval process, etc.).
- Compensation & Benefits
- Support the People & Culture Director in managing compensation and benefits programmes including conducting market survey to ensure competitiveness and internal equity.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with UK employment laws and regulations.
- Prepare ad hoc reports on key HR metrics as and when required to support data-driven decision-making.
- Review HR policies and procedures on a regular basis.
- Budget and People Management
- Support People & Culture Director during the budgeting process and manage general HR expenses to ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Mentor junior P&C team member(s) and foster a culture of innovation and excellence within People & Culture Department.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Organisational Development, Business Psychology, Human Resources or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of HR experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role in HR. Less experienced candidates will be considered for the role of Senior People & Culture Officer.
- Solid experience in employee relations, recruitment, and employee engagement in a luxury hospitality environment.
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment laws and HR best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and efficiently.
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong ownership and accountability with passion and empathy.
- Proactive and results-driven mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities to support the development of managers and team members.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in the preparation and review of policies, documents, and reports.
- Strong in verbal and written communications.
