Academy Education Officer – AWFC
An exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development and evolution of the Academy Development Programme for Arsenal Women Football Club.
The Role
We are looking for an Academy Education Officer to join us at AWFC and lead, design, and quality assure the Academy Education Programme across the PGA and club funded Academy.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the education strategy, delivering the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (Di SE) and developing a long‑term education strategy.
- Provide academic support to ensure players meet their educational commitments.
- Create and maintain individual learner plans, setting targets and reviewing progress with stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, colleges, and NGB education staff.
- Monitor student progress, academic performance and behaviour, and implement early intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with the Safeguarding team to support the safeguarding strategy and comply with child protection policies.
- Conduct regular check‑ins with players and their parents/guardians to provide guidance, updates, and advice.
- Support players transitioning out of the programme by assisting with future planning, including further education, employment opportunities, or scholarships.
- What We Are Looking For
- Background in education and mentoring young people.
- Degree level education plus Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status.
- Knowledge of the women’s football talent pathway in England.
- Safeguarding experience and current certificates in FA Safeguarding Children and Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAi F).
- Team player with ability to motivate others.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport.
- Organised, adaptable with strong time‑management skills.
- Motivated and passionate about football.
- Position of Trust
As a trust role involving regular, direct contact with children or vulnerable adults, you will be expected to uphold high standards of conduct to prevent abuse, maintain Club and FA Safeguarding training and education.
