Keep us on track. As a full-time, entry-level Vehicle Mechanic in the British Army, you'll:
- Keep the Army's vehicles available in barracks and on operations
- Service and maintain all vehicle types from Tanks to HGVs
- Conduct preventative maintenance
- Work in line with Army policy on vehicle maintenance and Health and Safety guidelines
- Assist in roadworthiness testing of all Army vehicles
To qualify, you must be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months, pass a basic fitness test, and have GCSEs grade A -C/9-4 in at least English Language, Maths and Science.
During your initial training, you'll earn £27,282. If you set your mind to it, you could reach Corporal within 5 years, earning £40,989. You'll also receive 38 days' annual leave every year (plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations), free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, and free gym and sports facilities. And unless you're away on operations or training exercises, you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
