About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Nursery Chef to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for young children aged 0-5, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times. This is a rewarding role at the heart of our nursery, helping to support children’s health, wellbeing and enjoyment of food.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks in line with nursery menus and Early Years nutrition guidance
- Cater for individual dietary needs, allergies and cultural preferences
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene in line with Food Standards Agency requirements
- Complete daily records relating to allergens, food temperatures and cleaning schedules
- Manage food orders, stock control and budgeting
- Work closely with nursery staff to promote healthy eating and positive mealtime experiences
- Ensure the kitchen and equipment are clean, organised and well maintained
- Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety
Person Specification
Essential- Experience of preparing meals in a professional kitchen or similar environment
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling
- Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals for children
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Friendly, positive and reliable attitude
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to complete)
- Experience of working in an early years or school setting
- Knowledge of children’s nutritional requirements
