The Arbours Primary Academy is recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant. If you are dedicated, inspirational, and have high expectations of children, you will be part of a team committed to ensuring all children achieve their best.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Model excellent day-to-day inclusive practice.
  • Work with the SENCo and other staff to ensure learning support reflects the School’s ethos and aims.
  • Develop knowledge of a range of learning support needs and strategies to meet children’s learning and pastoral needs.
  • Participate in training to develop the skills required to support the full spectrum of children with SEND.
  • Give in-class and small group support, clarifying and explaining instructions; motivate and encourage students; support skill development in literacy, numeracy, communication; meet physical needs; encourage independence; liaise with teachers and SENCo; develop appropriate resources.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and other professionals to develop suitable support programmes.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to lesson plans, materials and teaching activities to ensure accessibility for children with SEND.
  • Ensure progress is monitored and tracked in partnership with the class teacher and under direction from the SENCo.
  • Participate in the evaluation of support programmes as part of the school's self-evaluation processes.
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers, SENCo, and parents.

Working conditions:

This is a fixed‑term role until 31/08/2027, with the possibility of renewal. Hours: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum.
