About the Apprenticeship

The JLR retail apprenticeship programme is geared toward training the right candidate to become a qualified Parts Advisor. The role involves ordering, selling, and stock control for a wide range of vehicle parts and accessories. Duties may vary by employer but typically include the responsibilities below.

Responsibilities

  • Advising customers on how to solve a problem with their vehicle.
  • Taking orders from customers face to face and over the phone.
  • Maintaining an ordered stock room and locating parts from stock.
  • Raising invoices for parts sold.
  • Liaising with other members of staff.
  • Working alongside on-site Service Technicians to ensure they have the parts needed to complete their daily work.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our team and embark on a long term career, with excellent earning and progression opportunities once you complete your apprenticeship. Customers may include members of the public, service departments of retailers, and garages. The Parts Advisor role varies slightly by employer based on location needs.

Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face-to-face block release weeks at our state-of-the-art training centre. Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the Jaguar Land Rover Academy, in Leamington Spa, to complete their apprenticeship training. All training-related costs are fully covered as part of the programme, including travel, accommodation, and meals. In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your continued learning as you apply the skills and knowledge you gain through remote sessions and at the JLR Academy. This apprenticeship combines off-the-job training with on-the-job learning, and you will be supported every step of the way.

Qualifications Received

(England: Standard) On successful completion of the 17 month programme, you will receive:

  • Level 2 Retailer Standard
  • JLR specific certifications

(Scotland/ Wales/N.Ireland) On successful completion of the 15 month programme, you will receive:

  • Level 2 / Level 5 Customer Service Apprenticeship
  • JLR specific certifications

Scottish and Welsh training groups are subject to minimum numbers signed up on a course. Please speak to your recruitment advisor for further information.

Future prospects

There are lots of opportunities to develop your career within our expanding retail network. Once qualified, the earning potential for a Parts Advisor is in excess of £20,000. Your early development is mapped through the apprenticeship journey with learning focused toward achieving an industry recognised qualification. Training includes JLR global materials and guidance through the Learner Management System, Excellence, to support your career path.

Qualifications Required

GCSE grades 9–3 (A–D) or equivalent in English, Maths and two other subjects are required. In Scotland, applicants must have or be predicted to achieve Scottish National 5 Grades A–D or above in English, Maths and either a Science or Technical subject. Equivalent grades include BTEC first diplomas and certificates, OCR Nationals, Key Skills Level 2, NVQs. Essential Skills (Wales) – Functional Skills Level 2. Core Skills (Scotland). We accept predicted grades and may consider conditional offers based on predicted grades.

Personal qualities

As a central point of contact for both internal and external customers, you will need excellent communication skills. You should be IT literate (full training provided) and demonstrate attention to detail in your work.
