48-month programme following a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship Standard, with the opportunity to gain a formal qualification. Based at the Bury St Edmunds Customer Supply site, you will follow an Electrical Engineering pathway, learning about packaging sugar, electrical and mechanical equipment, and highly automated programmable control systems.

During the scheme you may move into an Electrical or Mechanical Technician role. The work pattern includes 5 days per week (8 hours per day, Monday–Friday) with college attendance 1 day per week. When advancing to a Technician role, a Panama shift pattern may apply, including some weekends and bank holidays.

Salary: 27,000

Location: Hollow Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7BB

Apprenticeship Level: Level 3

Responsibilities:

  • Gain a solid knowledge of maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures covering a range of plant and equipment.
  • Understand routine maintenance, fault finding and diagnosis, testing and commissioning.
  • Learn how to inspect and maintain plant equipment, assessing and testing the performance and condition of plant and equipment.
  • Develop knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
  • Understand the systems and procedures to work safely and efficiently.
  • Develop the behavioural skills to be a great team member.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Level 5/C or above, including Maths, English and a Science.
  • Must be able to travel to the workplace and attend College.
