Do you have experience of working in a venue technical department? We have an exciting opportunity for a Lighting Technician to join our skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly team of full-time and casual technicians, including two other full-time Lighting Technicians. Our welcoming team provide technical services for performances, hires and events across a wide variety of genres and are committed to the highest standards of production, presentation, and delivering an experience that delights.

You will work as part of a team looking after all aspects of putting on a performance in one of our three wonderful receiving venues. This includes the safe and efficient preparation of spaces, pre-rigs, focus, fit ups and get outs. You will also assist in the operation of the performance or be the point of contact for production lighting.

Anvil Arts presents over 400 performances each year to 180,000 people drawn from throughout central Southern England. The Anvil, The Haymarket and The Forge offer a rich and high-quality programme of music of all genres, drama, dance, and comedy, serving a wide range of audiences. Our Community Engagement work brings the arts to those who might not otherwise be able to enjoy them. We are the largest performing arts organisation in Hampshire and part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio. Position details

  • Full-time permanent position
  • 40 hours per week (across the pay period)
  • We require applicants to be 18 years old or over
  • 28 days/5.6 weeks holiday including bank holidays
  • Salary: £28,640 per year (All salaries are reviewed annually)

Key objectives

  • To be responsible for assisting the Production Department in the delivery of all technical equipment and production requirements throughout Anvil Arts venues.
  • To be committed to the highest standards of technical production presentation and service with the aim of delivering a customer experience that delights and is above expectation.
  • To provide technical services for all performances, exhibitions, hires and events for Anvil Arts, with a bias for, but not exclusively towards lighting.
