You're doing the work of three people for the pay of one. The hours are long. The annual reviews don’t happen or go nowhere. The flexibility is better in every other industry. All those years. All those qualifications. All that knowledge. And you're still patching holes at 8pm. There's a better way to use the expertise, the training and the qualifications. BR Principal Designer work takes everything you already know, regs, design team coordination, technical review… and puts it in a role where the workload is manageable, the hours are sane, and the pay reflects what you actually bring. You won't need to take a pay cut to make this move. And even starting at £55,000 (equivalent of a Project Architect) you won’t be at that salary for long. You'd get a very significant annual bonus if you worked here in addition. All normal, and expected in the Building Safety world. The culture is straightforward. Two days a week in the office if you fancy it. No mandatory days. You finish at 5pm or earlier if that’s your arrangement.

What you'll be doing

  • Guiding design teams through Building Regulations compliance on mixed-use projects
  • Supporting BR PD duties, Gateway submissions and regulatory processes
  • Reviewing drawings, details and specs for compliance
  • Coordinating with architects, consultants and clients
  • Keeping the golden thread intact and managing clear information flow

What you'll need

  • Qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist with a strong technical background
  • Solid working knowledge of UK Building Regulations
  • Any exposure to BR PD duties or duty holder support is a strong advantage
  • Confident communicating with design teams and clients
