CPD is actually aimed at improving your confidence and ability in the BR Consultant / PD role. Your salary would be good, better than if you stayed in an Architectural role. It’s the perfect opportunity if you’re keen to explore the Building Regulations Principal Designer role but nervous about what it could mean. You won’t leave Architecture behind here, you’ll be part of an Architectural team, but with a 100% remit to run the team's Building Regs PD function. You don’t need to worry about support or people to learn from either. They’ve been carrying this out since day one and have the experience. It’s just time to fully professionalise it, which is where you come in.
What you’ll be doing:
- Following trackers on multiple projects, advising, and helping the teams keep everything up to date organised and correct.
- Managing the golden thread of information as well as liaising with statutory authorities and ensuring things are being done to a high level of regulatory compliance.
- Coordinating with outside consultants and client organisations as well as ensuring all parties, including the clients understand and are carrying out their own duties.
- Working on mostly HRBs, some are very sensitive and complex.
- Applying Building Regulations to plans and drawings, and consulting with internal teams on BR, sustainability, accessibility and fire safety compliance.
What you’ll need:
- You’ll need to be an Architectural professional with a very good knowledge of Building Regulations. You don’t need to know them by heart, but you’ll know where to look and how to apply them.
- Experience in a supporting role to the BRPD or acting as the duty holder.
- Ideally some knowledge or experience of HRBs.
