The Animal People Recruitment Company is partnering with a successful, entrepreneurial consumer-products business to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to become the senior finance lead within a growing, owner-managed group operating across manufacturing, international trading, e-commerce, consumer brands and property. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and leading a small finance team, you will take ownership of the finance function while providing the commercial insight needed to support continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Producing monthly management accounts
- Managing P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting
- Maintaining a rolling 12-week cash-flow forecast
- Managing working capital, debtors, creditors and stock
- Leading budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
- Providing commercial analysis and decision support
- Reviewing profitability across products, customers and suppliers
- Supporting pricing, promotions and supplier negotiations
- Improving manufacturing margins and stock management
- Strengthening financial controls, systems and processes
- Managing VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and statutory requirements
- Leading and developing the existing finance team
- Working directly with the Managing Director and external advisers
Candidate requirements
- Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant or similar
- Strong management accounts, cash-flow and working-capital experience
- Commercially minded, with the ability to turn figures into clear recommendations
- Comfortable working directly with an MD or business owner
- Experience managing or developing a small finance team
- Hands-on and willing to work within the detail
- Strong Excel and finance systems skills
- A realistic commute to Stevenage
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, consumer goods, retail, wholesale, distribution, e-commerce, cosmetics, pet care or another stock-led business would be beneficial.
- Qualified, part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates will all be considered, provided they have the necessary practical finance experience and commercial capability.
This is a visible and influential position offering direct access to the Managing Director, genuine ownership of the finance function and the opportunity to help shape a growing business. The role requires a minimum of four days each week in the Stevenage office. The successful candidate can work from home one day per week once established, or remain fully office-based if preferred.
