The Anchor SendFriendly Centre is dedicated to supporting children and young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (S.E.N.D) in a safe and nurturing environment. The center integrates communication, personal development, social-emotional growth, and physical activities to promote positive outcomes. Through personalized care plans, the center helps each individual reach their full potential. Rooted in both professional expertise and a deep understanding of S.E.N.D from a parental perspective, the center emphasizes a compassionate and tailored approach to care and education.

This is a full-time, on-site position at The Anchor SendFriendly Centre, located in Lewisham. The teacher will develop and implement individualized education plans, deliver engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to students with S.E.N.D., assist in communication skill development, and foster personal, social, and emotional growth. Responsibilities also include working collaboratively with families and other professionals to ensure students can achieve their full potential in a supportive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in working with children and young adults with disabilities and S.E.N.D.
  • Experience in teaching, with a focus on middle school and special education.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to create and adapt lesson plans to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of behavior management strategies and techniques is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field is required; a teaching certification specific to special education is highly desirable.
