About the Analyst

The Analyst started life in 2010 as a blog run by buy-side analysts obsessed with stock picking, forensic research, and uncovering what others missed - calling out bad governance, spotting accounting tricks, and catching inflection points ahead of the market. That mindset still drives everything we do. Today, we're a leading independent equity research provider, delivering differentiated, high-conviction ideas to an exclusive client base of some of the world's leading mutual funds and hedge funds. We've grown, refined our processes, and expanded our coverage - but we've never compromised on our independence or the rigour behind our work. Today, we're a close-knit team of 18 spanning Research, Sales, Compliance, Finance, Creative, and Operations. We work in a lean, collaborative way - people are trusted to take ownership, contribute ideas, and have genuine impact.

Our Research team currently consists of four Senior Analysts (including our Founder/CEO), one Analyst, and one Junior Analyst. As we continue to grow, we're hiring at both Analyst and Junior Analyst level.

The Role

We're looking for an Equity Research Analyst to join our Research team. You'll work across the full research process - from idea generation to client-ready output - with meaningful exposure, responsibility, and the opportunity to build your own coverage over time. We would expect rapid progression to work independently, at which point you will be responsible for identifying investment ideas, meeting management teams in the UK and overseas, modelling companies, writing investment research, and communicating your work to our clients.

What You’ll Do

  • Research securities across target industries and companies to provide investment recommendations
  • Develop and communicate original investment ideas, supported by rigorous analysis
  • Build, own, and maintain financial models; create charts, dashboards, and supporting material
  • Write research reports and investment notes to a standard ready for senior review and client distribution
  • Conduct primary research from industry sources, including company meetings and management access in the UK and overseas
  • Monitor portfolio companies and sectors, flagging relevant developments to the team
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and current events

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in equity research, investment management, or a closely related field
  • Proven ability to build, own, and update financial models
  • Track record of developing and communicating investment theses clearly in writing
  • Strong judgement and a proactive approach
  • Comfortable balancing pace, quality, and shifting priorities
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and accountability
  • Intellectually curious with strong attention to detail
  • Commercially minded with a genuine passion for investing
  • Strong written communication - able to articulate investment thinking clearly and concisely

Training & Development

The most important part of your development will be working alongside our experienced senior analysts, with real responsibility from day one. We are fortunate to count many of the world's leading investors among our client base - you will learn not only from your colleagues but by sharing your ideas with, and having them challenged by, some of the most rigorous investors in the industry. We provide full sponsorship to study for the CFA programme and will work with you to identify any additional courses or qualifications that will benefit your development. Over time, there are real opportunities for increased responsibility and progression within equity research.

How We Work

As a small team, we rely on trust, ownership, and open communication. We keep things lean and collaborative - decisions are made quickly, responsibilities are shared, and everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas across the business.

Location & Working Pattern

This role is based in our Clapham North office, four days a week (Monday–Thursday), with Fridays remote. Being in the room matters to us - it helps us move quickly, share context easily, and solve problems together more effectively. Wednesdays are our main collaboration day when the whole team is in together. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.

Benefits & Perks

  • Hybrid working - four days in our Clapham North office, with Fridays remote
  • Private medical insurance with BUPA, including mental health cover and 24/7 digital GP access
  • Dental insurance with BUPA
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Life assurance and critical illness cover
  • Employee Assistance Programme - including counselling, financial and wellbeing support
  • Weekly team lunches, quarterly socials, and an annual company offsite
  • Learning and development support
  • Wellbeing initiatives - from fitness and nutrition sessions to mindfulness
