Middle School Grade 7 Math Teacher (fixed term contract, October, 2026-11 June, 2026 Reporting to: the Middle School Principal Hours: full time ASAP This is a fixed term contract for the 2026-2027 school year . The middle school math teacher is responsible for teaching Grade 7 Math and serving as a Grade 7 advisor. The School aims to provide an outstanding American Education in an international setting; students at ASL study a curriculum that employs North American educational philosophy and teaching methods with a global perspective.

Teach four sections of Math to Grade 7 students Plan, teach, and assess in close alignment with grade level teaching partner Coordinate curriculum with other members of the Math department, and liaise with other departments where appropriate Exhibit knowledge of current trends, pedagogy, (including an inquiry-based approach to teaching mathematics) research, and topics of importance in Math education by applying it in the classroom and sharing it with teachers on a departmental and school-wide basis Participate in regular, purposeful pedagogy meetings and in professional development sessions Serve as a Grade 7 advisor: build positive relationships with advisees and their families, deliver advisory curriculum, coach advisees with social, emotional, and academic topics, liaise with team teachers Collaborate with grade-level team teachers to support student well-being and academic progress, as well as the advisory curriculum and various team initiatives Organize and participate in field trips to facilitate active learning, including bonding days and a week-long trip abroad in May Participate actively in the life of the School, through attendance at events, committee membership and leadership of co-curricular activities Any other duties (including lunch and recess coverage) as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Middle School Principal A bachelor s degree in a relevant discipline Substantive full-time experience teaching Middle School Math Training and experience in intercultural competency initiatives to support diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom and workplace Significant recent professional development germane to the position Commitment to and facility with integration of technology in the service of student learning Experience within a standards-based curriculum, particularly Common Core Math Experience with Connected Math Program (CMP) and Building Thinking Classrooms Experience in advisory, mentoring or delivering social-emotional learning curricula that support adolescent wellbeing The American School in London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all trustees, employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
