We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our busy Practice and Clinical Team to cover a 9-12 month period of maternity leave. The candidate will work across our 2 sites at Cheltenham Road and Highnam. The role is for 29.5 hours p/w worked as follows:
- Monday: 830am-1pm; 2pm-6pm
- Tuesday: OFF
- Thursday: 7am-1pm; 2pm-5pm
- Friday: 830am-1pm; 2pm-530pm
Depending on the needs of the practice at the end of the contract, there may be an opportunity for a permanent role.
Main duties of the job
To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

We operate across 2 sites: Cheltenham Road Surgery and Highnam Surgery.
Job responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include:
- New patient health checks.
- Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate and record findings accurately.
- Facilitate round and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly.
- Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required.
- Stitch / Staple removal.
- Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
- Carry out BMI checks as directed.
- Act as a chaperone as required.
- When trained, undertake venepuncture.
- When trained, administer vaccinations.
- Carry out ECGs as requested.
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.

- Healthcare Qualification (Level 2) or working towards gaining equivalent level.
- Healthcare Qualification (Level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level.
