Joint Recruitment for Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners in partnership with Changing Futures North-East. Our vision is to empower all children, young people, and families to thrive. We are the leading provider of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Stockton-on-Tees and Hartlepool, offering mental health and emotional wellbeing support directly in schools. We work in partnership with Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust CAMHS, Changing Futures North East, The Link, Mind, and The Junction to ensure young people can access the right help, at the right time. Together, we also deliver The Tees Valley Getting Help Service—another local offer across the Tees Valley that provides mental health support to children and young people aged 5 to 18, or up to 25 if they have an EHCP. Everything we do is shaped by the iThrive framework, ensuring support is accessible, needs‑led, and designed around the child or young person. Our mission is simple: to help families navigate mental health support so they can get the right support at the right time.
Position Details:
- 4 x FULL TIME (37.5hrs) Trainee Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP).
- You will be employed by either Alliance or Changing Futures North-East and will work into our Mental Health Support Teams led by Alliance Psychological Services.
- Alongside employment you will undertake an academic programme with Northumbria University and be trained to deliver low‑intensity evidence‑based CBT interventions, leading to a recognised qualification.
- During training and with effective guidance and supervision you will provide a range of interventions in schools and across local communities, helping to develop a whole‑school approach to mental health and wellbeing and supporting the wider delivery of Children’s Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing Services through the I‑Thrive Framework.
Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery and development of a range of groupwork and 1:1 interventions with children, young people and parents, building the offer of mild‑moderate mental health interventions.
- Commit to supporting a whole‑school approach to mental health and wellbeing across Hartlepool and Stockton.
- Participate in CPD and personal development initiatives offered by both organisations.
- Contribute to the transformation of local children’s mental health and wellbeing services, delivering psychological support and emotional wellbeing services in educational and community settings.
