We are looking for a highly professional Kitchen Porter to join our Kitchen team for the very exciting opening of The Alfriston located in East Sussex, which dates back to the 14th century and is the fourth property in the growing Signet Collection.
The newly refurbished Hotel has 38 beautifully redesigned bedrooms and suites, a stunning function room, The 1554 Brasserie, offering views over the front lawn towards the sea and revamped herb and vegetable plots across the hotel gardens. The hotel bar offers more casual dining for guests both in and outdoors, while the Orangery serves breakfast and afternoon tea with views over the rear gardens and the Signet spa includes a steam room, sauna, outdoor swimming pool and three treatment rooms.

Be the behind-the-scenes hero of the kitchen — the person who makes sure everything is sparkling, spotless and ready for the next culinary adventure. You’ll bring bags of energy, a brilliant eye for detail and a proper can-do attitude, because kitchens move fast and there’s never a dull moment.
Here’s what you’ll be getting up to:
- Keep our kitchens, equipment and working areas spotless, sparkling and beautifully organised.
- Follow our weekly and monthly cleaning schedules with the precision of a cleanliness ninja.
- Have an impeccable eye for detail and take pride in getting things just right.
- Work alongside the Senior Kitchen Team and Chef on Duty, helping keep the kitchen running smoothly behind the scenes.
- Help with deliveries, making sure everything finds its rightful home and is stored safely and sensibly.
- Keep on top of waste disposal, ensuring bins, storage and waste areas are clean, tidy and never given the chance to become that corner of the kitchen.
- Keep floors clean throughout the day — because nobody enjoys a slippery surprise.
- Follow HACCP procedures carefully and make sure cleaning chemicals and substances are used safely and correctly.
- Follow all our Hygiene, Health & Safety rules and make sure the paperwork is completed properly too.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment where there’s always something happening.
- Be a brilliant team player who is happy to muck in, get stuck in and help wherever you’re needed.
