Overview of the Sous Chef role at Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa, East Grinstead. The successful candidate will help AG’s Restaurant and support the Reflections Restaurant teams in achieving high standards, with a drive to reach 3 Rosette standard for AG’s Restaurant and 2 Rosette standard for Reflections Restaurant. This is an opportunity to join the new Executive Chef and be part of a kitchen team where creativity, precision, and consistency are at the heart of everything we do.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Chef in delivering food to a 3 Rosette standard using fresh local produce and seasonal ingredients.
  • Lead and inspire the team in day-to-day service.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene, organisation and consistency.
  • Contribute to menu development and innovations.
  • Drive, train, develop and coach the team to success.
  • Work 5 shifts per week, 45 hours per week.

About You:

  • Proven experience in 2-3 Rosette or Michelin level kitchens.
  • Strong technical ability and attention to detail.
  • Calm under pressure with strong leadership skills.
  • Passion for seasonal, high-quality ingredients.
  • Ambition to be part of a team pushing for accolades.

Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa, part of Alexander Hotels, a private group of hotels of distinction just outside London. 5 Red Star, Award winning Utopia Spa, 58 bedrooms including the new luxury Cedar Lodge development and a 2-bedroom self-contained Gatehouse are available for guests. Two award-winning restaurants: Reflections Restaurant (2 Rosettes x 60 covers) and AG’s Restaurant (3 Rosettes x 38 covers), plus conference, banqueting and private dining facilities catering for 8 to 95 guests.
