The Place Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa, part of Alexander Hotels – a private group of quality hotels of distinction just outside London. The 4‑star, award‑winning Utopia Spa sits within 15 acres of beautiful gardens, accompanied by a 38‑bedroom hotel, the Clockhouse Banqueting Suite and Pavilion conference venue. The hotel hosts two restaurants – RG’s Fine Dining Restaurant and Elements Brasserie & Bar – and offers a range of private dining rooms for functions, weddings, celebrations, conferences and other events.
The Role
Working in our RGs Fine Dining Restaurant & Elements Bar, the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager will have responsibility for the service of food and beverage to residents, spa guests and local visitors. Service for guests covers breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days per week, so candidates must be available for flexible shift patterns working 40 hrs per week across 5 days, including weekends.
- Ensuring the restaurant is prepared for service
- Providing employees with a service brief and allocating duties for their shift
- Meeting and greeting guests
- Taking guest orders
- Effectively rostering employees
- Supporting the Restaurant Manager with recruitment, induction, training and coaching of new employees
- Coaching a team of 18 employees to develop their skills and ensure service standards are met
- Serving food and beverage, including alcoholic beverages
- Completing satisfaction checks and acting on all feedback
- Resolving any service issues
- Presenting bills to guests and processing payment
- Ensuring the restaurant is reset at the end of the shift, ready for the next service
- Ensuring the work area is clean and tidy before closing
Requirements
- Smart appearance
- Excellent communication skills with a passion for guest service
- Management or supervisory experience within a quality food‑service hotel/restaurant required
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of waiters to ensure excellence
- Must have your own transport due to the location and shift work required for this role
