The Place Rowhill Grange Hotel & Utopia Spa, part of Alexander Hotels – a private group of quality hotels of distinction just outside London. The 4‑star, award‑winning Utopia Spa sits within 15 acres of beautiful gardens, accompanied by a 38‑bedroom hotel, the Clockhouse Banqueting Suite and Pavilion conference venue. The hotel hosts two restaurants – RG’s Fine Dining Restaurant and Elements Brasserie & Bar – and offers a range of private dining rooms for functions, weddings, celebrations, conferences and other events.

The Role

Working in our RGs Fine Dining Restaurant & Elements Bar, the Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager will have responsibility for the service of food and beverage to residents, spa guests and local visitors. Service for guests covers breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days per week, so candidates must be available for flexible shift patterns working 40 hrs per week across 5 days, including weekends.

  • Ensuring the restaurant is prepared for service
  • Providing employees with a service brief and allocating duties for their shift
  • Meeting and greeting guests
  • Taking guest orders
  • Effectively rostering employees
  • Supporting the Restaurant Manager with recruitment, induction, training and coaching of new employees
  • Coaching a team of 18 employees to develop their skills and ensure service standards are met
  • Serving food and beverage, including alcoholic beverages
  • Completing satisfaction checks and acting on all feedback
  • Resolving any service issues
  • Presenting bills to guests and processing payment
  • Ensuring the restaurant is reset at the end of the shift, ready for the next service
  • Ensuring the work area is clean and tidy before closing

Requirements

  • Smart appearance
  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for guest service
  • Management or supervisory experience within a quality food‑service hotel/restaurant required
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of waiters to ensure excellence
  • Must have your own transport due to the location and shift work required for this role
