We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to take control of all aspects of our kitchen. Predominantly a solo role, so must be able to work solo in the kitchen but be part of a fantastic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are met, and inspiring creativity within the team. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in maintaining high-quality food production while fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
Duties:
- Supervise and manage kitchen porter when needed
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality
- Develop innovative menus that align with the restaurant's concept and customer preferences
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with regulations
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control efficiently
- Train staff on culinary techniques when necessary, safety procedures, and service standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely manner and meet presentation standards
- Manage kitchen schedules, organise shifts, and optimise workflow for maximum productivity
- Uphold a positive team environment that encourages professional development and teamwork
Experience:
- Proven supervising experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality setting
- Extensive background in food production, food preparation, and cooking techniques
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing a diverse culinary team
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management
- Previous restaurant experience with a focus on high-quality service delivery
- Familiarity with food service operations including serving standards and customer interaction
- Experience in menu development, food costing, and inventory management is desirable
- A passion for culinary innovation combined with excellent organisational skills
