We're looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead Aldgate Tap, one of the City's favourite craft beer destinations. This is a hands‑on role for someone who loves being behind the bar just as much as leading a team. We want a practical, energetic manager who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, lead from the front, and work our busiest trading periods—particularly Wednesday and Thursday evenings. If you're passionate about great beer, enjoy building relationships with customers, and know what it takes to run a successful pub, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the day‑to‑day operation of the venue.
  • Creating a welcoming atmosphere that keeps our loyal regulars coming back while attracting new customers.
  • Leading, motivating and developing a small, high‑performing team.
  • Working hands‑on on the floor during busy services, especially Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
  • Managing stock, ordering and cellar operations to the highest standard.
  • Troubleshooting cellar issues and maintaining excellent cask beer quality.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and setting the standard for the team.
  • Driving sales, controlling costs and achieving quarterly business targets.
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing, health & safety and food hygiene standards.

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience as a General Manager or an experienced Deputy Manager ready to step up.
  • Strong knowledge of cellar management and cask ale.
  • Confidence in troubleshooting cellar and dispense issues.
  • A genuine passion for craft beer and hospitality.
  • A hands‑on management style with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Confident, engaging and approachable with customers.
  • Proven ability to build a loyal customer base and develop new regular trade.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, stock and labour.
  • Personal Licence (preferred but not essential).

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Excellent TRONC earnings.
  • An attractive quarterly bonus scheme for achieving business targets.
  • Monday to Friday operation – closed every weekend and all Bank Holidays, giving you an outstanding work‑life balance for hospitality.
  • The opportunity to lead an established City venue with a fantastic reputation.
  • Supportive ownership with the autonomy to make your mark.

If you're a passionate hospitality professional who enjoys leading from the front, takes pride in delivering exceptional beer quality, and wants to run one of the City's best‑loved pubs, we'd love to hear from you.
