Role Purpose
As Treasurer Trustee, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health, sustainability, and accountability of The Air League. You will provide strategic oversight of financial management and support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities (All Trustees)
- Ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law, and relevant regulations
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the charity’s strategic plan
- Safeguard the charity’s assets, reputation, and long-term sustainability
- Actively participate in board meetings and key decision-making
- Act in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries
- Support and appropriately challenge the executive team
Additional Responsibilities (Treasurer Trustee)
- Oversee the charity’s financial strategy and long-term financial sustainability
- Monitor and review financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, and management accounts
- Ensure appropriate financial controls, risk management processes, and reporting systems are in place
- Lead on the Board’s oversight of financial governance and compliance
- Liaise with auditors/independent examiners and support the preparation of annual accounts
- Chair or contribute to the Finance Committee (if applicable)
- Provide financial guidance and insight to fellow Trustees and the executive team
Person Specification
- Strong commitment to The Air League’s mission and values
- Financial expertise, with experience in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
- Ability to interpret financial information and support strategic decision-making
- Good judgement, integrity, and a collaborative approach
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience of charity finance, governance, or working with non-profit organisations
- Experience serving on a board or in a senior leadership role
