THE ROLE
Dedicated cook needed to join a kitchen team at an authentic Indian restaurant. Work alongside experienced team members, preparing traditional dishes while receiving hands-on training. Must have tandoor experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes and standards
- Work with tandoor to prepare traditional Indian breads and dishes
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and taste meet high standards
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards
- Complete temperature recording and food safety documentation
- Assist with food preparation, portioning, and plating
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
- Follow health and safety regulations
- Learn traditional Indian cooking techniques through training programme
REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL:
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in a professional kitchen environment
- Experience working with tandoor
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Experience with temperature recording and food safety documentation
- Ability to work under pressure during peak times
- Team player with strong work ethic
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings and weekends
- Right to work in the UK
DESIRABLE:
- Knowledge of Indian cuisine and spices
- Basic knife skills and food preparation techniques
- Culinary qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
