Location: The Liberation Centre Brixton, London (Remote working within the UK with a minimum of 2 days in the office)

Contract: Full‑time (40hrs/weekly), fixed‑term project contract for 1 year with potential for part‑time extension based on funding

Hours: Flexible working hours; evening and weekend availability may be required; extra hours are reimbursed as Time off in Lieu (TOIL)

Start date: As soon as possible (potentially June, subject to notice period)

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the Gender Coalition – Power in Balance. Accountability for development and delivery of the programme, including:
  • Coordinate strategic direction and priorities, working primarily with the Director of Programmes, partnerships, and the Associate Director of Partnerships.
  • Proactively build relationships with coalition partners, holding regular 1:1s and relational meetings, supporting partners to identify and act on political interests, and ensuring coalition milestones are met.
  • Lead the Youth Steering Group, providing strategic oversight and facilitation, ensuring consistent engagement, strong attendance, and meaningful youth voice throughout the programme.
  • Lead the development of the Summer Camp (15th – 19th August 2026), attending the camp to understand the model, support delivery, oversee logistics, partner coordination, and capture learning for future iterations.
  • Ensure Power in Balance runs smoothly by coordinating behind‑the‑scenes systems, processes, resources, safeguard and risk management standards, health and safety compliance, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Hold the budget for the programme, ensuring all activities run within financial targets, working closely with the Director of Programmes and Partnerships to identify efficiencies and flag risks or opportunities that may impact delivery or budget adherence.
  • Support wider partnerships work, including:
    • Work closely with the Senior Lead for Climate Coalition to identify collaboration opportunities and reduce duplication.
    • Collaborate with the Programmes, Organising and Campaigns, and Community teams to develop training on organising and campaigning.
    • Deliver ad‑hoc workshops and meetings, holding space effectively and designing creative learning journeys for young people.
  • Be a key member of the Programme Team, including:
    • Support efforts to set the strategic direction and priorities for the Programme Team each financial year.
    • Assist the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and the Associate Director of Partnerships with management and mitigation of organisational risks presented by the Coalition, escalating issues in a timely manner and contributing to effective problem solving.
    • Contribute to the delivery of wider organisational programmes beyond Power in Balance, including supporting initiatives such as Ignite and other internal programmes as required.
  • Share responsibilities for achieving strategic objectives by upholding the organisation’s vision, mission, strategy, ideology, and cultural values across all activities and supporting cross‑departmental projects as needed, including:
    • Embody commitment to social and economic justice, ensuring consistent reflection in decision‑making, delivery, and partnerships.
    • Role model and actively steward the culture and value expectations across the organisation, leading by example across departments and during team days.
    • Proactively identify and surface opportunities that strengthen organisational impact, working closely with senior leadership and contributing to strategic thinking.
    • Hold responsibility for identifying and addressing risks to integrity, authenticity, and alignment with ideology and culture, taking appropriate and timely action.
    • Strengthen collaboration across departments by creating and enabling joint working opportunities, ensuring teams are aligned, resourced, and working in tandem.
    • Contribute to a culture of openness and care by communicating wellbeing needs to the line manager, feeding back on wellbeing initiatives, and supporting others.
    • Take ownership of ongoing development, actively seeking opportunities to deepen leadership, knowledge, and areas of specialism.
  • Governance and Compliance, including:
    • Work with the Finance, HR, and Operations team to prioritise risk management, feeding into risk analysis and mitigation and escalating risks to strategic objectives.
    • Hold oversight of risk within the area, ensuring appropriate systems and practices are applied consistently.
    • Ensure understanding and compliance with organisational policies and practices, taking the lead on their implementation within the portfolio.

    Ideal Skills & Experience:

    • At least 5 years of experience delivering programmes on social justice issues working with young people.
    • At least 5 years of experience supporting people to develop and implement organising or campaign efforts.
    • Detail‑oriented.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience working with diverse audiences or stakeholder types.
    • Strong project management experience, collaborating across teams online and in person.
    • Excellent organisational skills with confidence managing multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Experience with existing systems such as Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Canva, and Slack.
    • Confidence working in a fast‑paced environment.
