The Innovation Team delivers a diverse portfolio of research, development and deployment projects, working with internal teams, technology providers, research organisations, industry bodies, regulators and Government.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning, developing and delivering innovation and deployment projects, from early-stage research and trials through to wider business rollout.

  • Supporting and leading applications for Ofgem innovation funding, including NIA and SIF opportunities.
  • Developing cost-benefit assessments and business cases to support investment decisions.
  • Working with NGED teams and external partners to trial, evaluate and implement new solutions.
  • Supporting the transition of successful innovations into operational deployment.
  • Representing NGED at industry, regulatory and Government forums.
  • Preparing project and regulatory reports in line with Ofgem and NGED requirements.
  • Sharing knowledge and mentoring colleagues across the organisation.

About You

You will bring a strong combination of project management experience, technical understanding and stakeholder-management skills, together with the curiosity and adaptability needed to work in an innovation environment.

We are looking for:

  • A degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline, or significant relevant electricity network experience supported by an HNC or equivalent technical qualification.
  • A recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM PMQ.
  • Significant experience managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of UK electricity transmission and/or distribution networks, assets, operational requirements and relevant legislation.
  • Strong planning, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage uncertainty, risk and competing priorities.
  • Experience of NIA/SIF projects would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across all four NGED licence areas.

Working Arrangements

Warwick is the designated base location, with the role primarily remote/home-based.

Regular travel will be required to NGED sites and other locations across the four licence areas for project meetings, site visits, trials, events and stakeholder engagement. Business travel and reasonable associated expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the applicable expenses policy.
