Job Description

Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Solicitor to join South Gloucestershire Council on a temporary basis.

The Council are looking for a Solicitor to work within the Education, Adult Social Care and Children's Social Care department.

Key details:

  • Pay: £55 p/h umbrella
  • Location: Badminton Road, Council Offices
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday
  • Working arrangements: Hybrid
  • Contract: Temporary role until 30/01/2026

Duties:

  • Attend Court
  • Chairing and attending round table meetings
  • Ensuring the effective delivery of legal advice on children's social care, including Court of Protection Cases, Education Law and Adult Social Care Law.
  • To include SEND advice, school admission, school attendance, advice to panels hearing appeals against refusal of home to school transport and school admission appeals.
  • Manage a mixed case load of Court of Protection cases; Welfare Applications, Section 21A appeals and applications under the Re X process.
  • Dealing with education queries, including judicial reviews, particularly responding to pre-action protocol letters.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • An understanding of Children's Social Care Law, Court of Protection Law, Education Law and can demonstrate knowledge of Data Protection Law.
  • IT literate – competent on Microsoft Programmes and internal systems
  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective IT skills
