This is an exciting new post based in Dorset, designed to promote and publicise health research across several organisations. You will work with minimal supervision to increase the visibility and impact of health research both internally and externally, helping staff understand health research, inspiring people to take part in clinical trials, and helping publicise the work of the new commercial research delivery centre (primary care). The post holder will work independently on projects in support of health research in Dorset, specifically The Adam Practice (TAP), Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (DCH), Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust (DHC) and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD). The post is designed to be multi‑media content‑generation specific. Whether a trained journalist or communications professional looking for your next move, you must be a hands‑on, creative and confident storyteller keen to bring research to life through engaging copy (newsletters, reports, press releases), photography, video and social‑first content (carousels, bespoke graphics etc). Anyone without these demonstrable skills will not be considered. The role is initially advertised as a one‑year contract, with a view to extending if effectiveness is demonstrated.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical teams, operational colleagues, research partners and industry sponsors.
  • Act as a key point of contact for communications within the CRDC, providing advice and guidance to colleagues and partners.
  • Represent the CRDC at internal and external meetings and events where required.
  • Plan, gather and deliver high‑quality content for a range of channels, including newsletters, social media, press releases, staff updates, websites, intranet and reports to funding bodies and others.
  • Tailor messages for different audiences, ensuring communications are clear, engaging and accessible.
  • Support the development of case studies and success stories to demonstrate the impact of commercial and non‑commercial research.
  • Plan, create and maintain patient‑facing CRDC web pages on TAP website.
  • Plan and create marketing and promotional materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Contribute to the management of digital and social media activity, ensuring alignment with TAP, WHP and partner Trust objectives.
  • Deliver communications activities that support participant recruitment into commercial research studies; assess if the target is met, and within the timeframe.
  • Work with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure recruitment messaging is clear, targeted and effective.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands‑on, creative and confident storyteller with proven experience in engaging copy (newsletters, reports, press releases).
  • Demonstrated skills in photography, video and social‑first content (carousels, bespoke graphics, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in managing multi‑media content across multiple channels.
