Lloyd's syndicate has an opening for an experienced non-life actuary to lead their capital validation process and wider projects. You will report into the Chief Actuary and be part of a small team of circa 6.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the validation of the internal capital model, ensuring high standards of accuracy, governance, and documentation.
- Contribute to the development of validation frameworks, methodologies, and toolkits.
- Ensure that model validation processes and documentation comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
- Act as a primary point of contact for independent validation teams.
- Provide robust challenge to modelling assumptions, methodologies, and output with constructive recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare clear, concise validation reports for Board, Executive, Lloyd’s, and regulatory audiences.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the capital team to contribute to ongoing model improvement initiatives.
- Support the production of other capital outputs for Solvency UK, Lloyd’s requirements, and internal risk management reporting, including internal model uses both regular and ad hoc.
- Develop a deep understanding of the company’s risk profile and capital drivers.
- Maintain strong awareness of regulatory developments and industry best practices in capital modelling and validation.
Skills & Experience
- Qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent), with strong modelling/validation background.
- Proven experience in capital modelling, validation, risk modelling, or related actuarial fields ideally within Lloyd’s.
- Strong technical skills, ideally including experience with tools such as ReMetrica.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail and solution-focused mindset.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex modelling outputs into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Ability to work flexibly in terms of tasks performed.
