Assistant Manager, Life Actuarial Consulting Locations: London, Bristol, Manchester or Edinburgh | Flexible and hybrid working available
A leading global consultancy is looking for a part-qualified (circa 3 years experience) life actuary to join its Actuarial Consulting team as an Assistant Manager. This is a step into a more hands-on delivery role, where you'll lead workstreams, build your client-facing experience and start developing junior colleagues.
The role
- Lead workstreams on client projects including IFRS 17 impact assessments and implementations, finance transformation, M&A support, capital modelling and Audit support
- Provide technical actuarial input across several projects at once, and review the work of more junior team members
- Draft reports, papers and client presentations
- Take part in client meetings and build relationships with client teams
- Coach and support analysts and consultants
- Contribute to proposals and the development of the firm's solutions
- About you
- Part-Qualified Actuary, or close to qualification, with experience in a Life actuarial function, an insurer or a life consultancy
- Good technical grounding in areas such as IFRS 17, Solvency II, capital modelling, valuation or reinsurance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to deal with clients early on
- Able to manage your own workload across concurrent tasks, ideally with some experience of directing or reviewing others' work
- An interest in coaching others and developing your management skills
- Consultancy experience is helpful but not essential, and actuaries from industry are welcome to apply
- What’s on offer
- A clear route towards managing whole engagements
- Varied, high-profile project work across the Life insurance market
- Office-based, hybrid and flexible working, with part-time options potentially available
